A MESSAGE FROM OUR PTA CHAIR, KRISTIN SAMPLE

Hello PTA family!

I hope you and your children have had a great first few weeks of school. Thank you for joining me for our first general membership PTA meeting. Our next PTA meeting is on November 4th at 6pm.

We had a great showing at our zoom meeting last night. Over one hundred people! And things were going swimmingly until we got “zoom bombed!” We will work on our zoom security measures. But I’m sorry for the language that was used. I can assure you that our PTA does NOT endorse anything that was said at the end of the meeting. Mr. Vega will elevate this situation to his boss to get further advice on how to prevent it in the future. Again, my sincerest apologies. And thank you for attending.

There are many projects going on right now that utilize PTA disbursements money. But I want to give a shout out to one particular project. The PTA, alongside the district, renovated our faculty lounge! Our teachers give so much to the school. We are proud to be a part of celebrating them with this new space. And thank you to Dayme Walther for spearheading the project.

There is an exciting all-community event coming up that I want to alert you to. First, Protect Young Eyes is a webinar for parents on digital literacy and internet safety. The one hour presentation will be on Sept. 30th at 6:30pm. We will be joined by members of the Skyview PTA and faculty. The Moss Haven PTA is proud to share this resource with Skyview.

PTA + FUNDRAISERS
The PTA Clothes Closet Help Needed!

The PTA Clothes Closet has a growing need for volunteers to help sort and distribute clothes.  This is an incredible opportunity RISD gives to all students who are in need of clothes, coats, shoes and even prom dresses in the Spring.  This closet is run solely on donations and volunteers time to work in the closet (with their masks on and socially distanced of course).  At this time, we are in need of one or two hours of your time.  It is a small commitment and can be done as little as once a year or as often as every other week. Volunteers can be anyone over the age of 18.  You do not have to have kids at Moss Haven or even in the district anymore.  This is a great way to serve our community.   Please consider volunteering to help our district give each student an equal opportunity in every way they possibly can.

Thank you in advance! Click the link below to sign up today.  If you have questions please do not hesitate to reach out - carolineruthwaller@gmail.com
