September 2, 2022

We have a lot of updates in this newsletter. Please be sure to read it through to learn about volunteer opportunities and ways to help out MHE and FMJH!

Great start for the carpool this year. Thank you the MHE PTA, Janelle Marvin, MHE Dad's Club and everyone that has worked to keep our kids safe. Drive slow and cell phones down y'all!

Carpool Map and Instructions

  • Enter carpool line from Aborside turning onto Club Meadows
  • Pull all the way forward when arriving to the carpool drop off/pick up area, don’t stop at earlier entrances if you are able to move forward.
  • Left Turn only at Club Meadows when leaving carpool
  • No Parking on the North Corners of Club Meadows and Moss Farm between 7:15-8:00 am and 2:30-3:15 pm
  • No Parking on the West Corners of Moss Farm and Club Meadows between 7:15-8:00 am and 2:30-3:15 pm

By keeping the North and West corners free from parked cars we are 1) creating safe environment for walkers by creating more visibility, 2) not creating congestion and allowing carpool to move more efficiently when cars are able to easily turn left, and 3) allowing buses to safely turn right headed North on Club Meadows

*Reminder: walkers are now exiting the main entrance on Moss Farm Ln

Save The Date!

The MHE Fall Festival will be

October 22, 2022 from 4-7pm.

Save the Date!

With the help of Ms. Crook, the Arts in Education Committee is hosting its first Reflections workshop of the fall in the art room after school on Tuesday, September 20 until 4:00 pm, to give interested kids a head start on their PTA Reflections contest submissions for this year’s theme, “Show Your Voice!” Because space in the art room is limited, we’ll be circulating a sign-up form for that workshop soon. Art supplies will be provided, and volunteers are always appreciated! 😊 For those who aren’t already familiar, Reflections is an annual fine arts contest sponsored by PTAs across the country. The deadline for MHE submissions is November 4. More info on how and where to submit entries will be coming soon.  For more info on the contest and guidelines and student entry forms in English and Spanish, visit https://www.txpta.org/reflections-participation. Have questions? Reach out to Selam Dolino and Katherine Chambers at mosshavenreflections@gmail.com.

FMJH Charger Partners Campaign 2022

#FMJHunderconstruction #rememberjuniorhigh? #makeitbetter #payitforward
"The road to success is always under construction."

Dear Forest Meadow Junior High Supporter,

Do you remember junior high? Quite possibly the most awkward, exciting, and defining years of one’s life! This year brings exciting new changes for our beloved FMJH as Richardson ISD has broken ground on a construction project to improve and expand the school. This project will transform our junior high into a middle school model encompassing 6th, 7th and 8th grades starting with the 2024 school year. With the addition of the 6th grade comes the need for an increase in staff training, extra-curricular opportunities for students, as well as PTA funded disbursement opportunities and requests. All of which will be necessary to ensure a successful transition for the tweens in our community.

Why is the Charger Partners Fundraising Campaign so important in 2022?
The FMJH PTA historically operates from funds raised by Market in the Meadow. Sadly, due to the pandemic, we were not able to host that event for the past two years and now with construction constraints, we are looking at another two years of limitations causing a significant deficit in our PTA budget. In efforts to combat that deficit, Charger Partners is transitioning from an underwriting model to a full-on check writing campaign! The campaign will kick off on August 15, 2022, at the Back-to-School Charger Round-Up and run through October 31, 2022. We NEED your help to exceed our efforts of $39,500 in 2021 and reach our goal of $75,000 in 2022!

What does your donation DO?
The reality is that many students at FMJH will need support now more than ever! Financial support from the FMJH PTA plays a critical role in the programs and initiatives that enable a diverse population of approximately 800 young adults from our Lake Highlands community to strive for excellence academically, socially and personally.

Make a difference and donate TODAY!
We would like to express our gratitude to all who have donated in the past and welcome new donors! Our goal for the Charger Partners Campaign is to fully support ALL at FMJH in their continued growth towards success!
